The Barbara Petchenik Competition
The British Cartographic Society is the national coordinator for the UK.
The call has gone out for contributions to the biennial children’s map competition.
The theme for entries is: "A map of my future world".
General rules for the Barbara Petchenik Competition 2023
Rules for teachers and parents
Entries are invited in four age categories:

under 6 years
-
6–8 years
-
9–12 years
-
above 12 (13–15) years
Entries must be a flat map, no more than A3 in size, and can be produced by an individual or group of up to three children.
Entries must be accompanied by a form detailing the author and parental permission to allow the map to be reproduced.

Please encourage your children, local school, or youth groups to participate.
The following documents are provided for you to use please fill out and include them with your entries:
Parent permission form: the permission form that should be signed by parents or legal representatives
Author data form: an optional data form to be annexed to the drawings selected for the international competition
Entries must be via the national organiser (the BCS), and not directly to the ICA.
