The British Cartographic Society is pleased to offer individual members the opportunity to apply for support of up to £500 to attend EuroCarto2024, the regional ICA conference that will take place in Vienna, Austria from 9-11 September 2024. This biennial gathering is a major event in the cartographic calendar and includes workshops, research presentations and exhibitions. The conference is co-organised by the BCS and the national mapping societies of Austria, Czechia, Germany and Switzerland, together with the local organiser, TU Wien.
Applicants shall meet the following conditions:
You must be a current individual member of the BCS (i.e., Student, Associate, Full, Overseas, Fellow, or Hon. Fellow);
You must not be in receipt of an ICA Scholarship to attend EuroCarto 2024; and
You must provide a written report to Maplines and/or submit a paper to The Cartographic Journal.
Applications will be considered by a subcommittee drawn from BCS Council and the UKCC. Awarded funds can be put towards registration, travel or accommodation.
To apply, write a letter outlining the reasons why you are seeking BCS support and send this by email to BCS Administration (admin@cartography.org.uk) no later than 5pm BST on Friday, 5 July 2024. Applicants will be notified within one week.
