Armagh Robinson Library

An independent foundation established in 1771 by Act of Parliament and under the control of a Board of Governors and Guardians.

Collection: 1835-1840 Ireland Ordnance Survey maps, atlases, local maps.

Approx. 55,000 maps and 200 atlases forming an extensive world-wide geological, topographic, hydrologic and thematic coverage of relevance to hydrocarbon exploration.

Note: The extensive, collection of satellite imagery, satellite photography, and aerial photography has now been relocated with the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC). This means that for the first time, this archive, which covers a large part of the world's oil exploration area is now available to other companies on a commercial basis. Circa 2,000 sheets and about 80 atlases. Mainly OS maps covering local area at 1:10,560 and 1:2,500. Complete set of OS at 1:50,000. Also some original and duplicate tithe and enclosure maps for the area.

St Bartholomew's Hospital Archives

Barts Health NHS Trust



Circa 500 items (including 9 plan books). Maps and plans of St. Bartholomew's Hospital and its estates (17th-20th centuries). The estates were principally in the Home Counties and in London.

Also some maps and plans relating to other former hospitals in the City and East London and their estates.

The Map Collection

Beamish: The North of England Open Air Museum

Circa 500 early edition OS 1:10,560 and 1:2,500 plans, and several other town maps.

The large photographic archive at present being put onto a LASER disc system.

Local Studies Library

Bedfordshire County Council

Circa 4,000 OS and other maps covering Bedfordshire, current and historical. Original maps and prints from 16th century onwards. Also land use and geographical maps. Sets of 1:10,560 OS maps from 1st ed. to 1960, and of 1:10,000 thereafter for Bedfordshire; 1:2,500 (1949 and 1955) for the county; 1:1,250 for Bedford only.
Set of aerial photographs for Bedfordshire taken in 1991.

Dunstable and Leighton Buzzard Libraries have collections of historical maps relating to their own areas. See web site for more details.
